sunday’s recipe (even though it’s friday): essential oils for health & wellness

i just love essential oils! i am re-doing my previous post, incorporating more into it because i’ve learned more since last week, and i’m so excited about it.

it’s funny how when you get into something, you find people around you that are into it too. i’ve been finding all sorts of lovely people blogging about essential oils, and posting about it on instagram. i love finding these inspiring people. two women that i follow have each hosted an “essential oil instagram class” and written about oils on their blogs. amanda watters (@mamawatters, @mamawattersessentials) and nicole neesby (@dwellingsimpleessentials) are beautifully inspiring women who post about their own experiences with oils and their love of young living essential oils company, which is one of the leading oil developers in the world.

Processed with VSCOcam with t1 presetother companies that i support are doterra and mountain rose herbs. i trust these companies because of their commitment to using high quality, pure essential oils that are either grown organically or wild crafted and harvested using safe, proper methods. i use a mix of oils purchased from these companies and feel confident using their high quality essential oils.

besides using quality essential oils, it is important to use quality carrier oils. a carrier oil is used to dilute essential oils from directly touching the skin because they are so powerful. for most of these recipes, i use fractionated coconut oil as my carrier oil. coconut oil is fractionated into capric and caprylic acids, giving it a longer shelf-life, and thus increasing it’s antioxidant and disinfecting effects. i store all of these special blends in small glass bottles with roller tops. this makes for easy application in times of need!

it’s amazing to have these pre-mixed bottles on hand, whether in my purse, or around my home, making them easier to use. all week i have been dabbing my wrists and behind my ear with my “stress relief” bottle, which smells amazing and just puts a smile on my face immediately. i was suffering from a headache over the weekend, and as soon as i made the headache blend on monday i could feel the pain melting away, as i applied a few rolls onto my temples and neck. total magic.

i hope this encourages you to begin your own journey with essential oils. i am sure enamored with their power & natural abilities. i use essential oils for cleaning, beauty products and health care. i will love them forever!
